It was great fun to work with Anita Halvorssen on her new book The Dirty Network. Anita is a Boulder, Colorado, author who comes from a legal background and has worked on climate change issues. She drew on her knowledge and passion to spin this high-stakes thriller, which features a Moroccan journalist who stumbles upon a career-changing story . . . . if she doesn’t get killed before she can publish it. The story revolves around her quest to find out who murdered her former boyfriend and the trail leads to an oil and fracking company with shady ties to the government. The story is bolstered by the grit and determination that the main character, Zakia Karim, shows by working as a woman in a nontraditional career in her culture. Her relationships with her husband, children and best friend add to the story’s suspense. Anita did a great job and it is a must-read for anybody who loves the genre.
