Kerry Parry Publishes Conversations with the Faithful

By Lori DeBoer

Conversations with the Faithful: Seeking Enlightenment Over Lunch is an amazing new book released by Wi-Do last summer.  I enjoyed working with the author, Kerry Parry; she’s a gifted storyteller and handles this deep and personal subject with wit and wisdom, without being heavy-handed or dogmatic.

Kerry was raised by parents who had foresaken their own faiths of Mormonism and Evangelicalism.  As Kerry grew up, she wondered if there was any benefit to having a little faith, particularly in times of trouble

A series of events—including a conversation with her dead grandmother and a job loss—set Kerry on a journey to speak with the faithful.  She questioned friends, relatives, and strangers about their beliefs. She sought people of diverse religious experiences, who practiced, depended upon, and demonstrated a faith that, in Parry’s mind, made them extraordinary.

In this diverse and creative non-fiction account, Kerry Parry takes us along on her journey– from a fog of doubt to a path of discovering authentic personal faith. She shares her “conversations with the faithful” and what, in the process, she learns about religion and belief.
